DoubleTree Cookies

I don't travel very often. I didn't before I had kids and I definitely don't now that I do. If I do happen to travel, we typically skimp on the hotel so we can go bigger in other aspects of the trip.

All of that is just to say that I have never been to a Hilton DoubleTree. But when I heard that they gave out their cookie recipe and people were going crazy for it, well I had to try it!

For my first try, I just followed the recipe as posted on the Hilton site, almost exactly. I left out the walnuts because unfortunately I'm the only one in my family who likes them. Even without the nuts, they were DELICIOUS. Like the best homemade cookies I've ever made, delicious!

But, they were also gigantic! Almost as big as my 3yo's head! I have young kids, I can't have them getting full off of half a cookie! I decided that my next attempt would definitely be much smaller.

I gathered my ingredients, sans nuts, and got started.

When I went to get started, I realized my brown sugar was completely rock hard. #bakerfail So I heated up a little water and mixed it in to help dissolve it before I added it to my butter and sugar. In this instance, it didn't seem to change the end consistency. But be sure to take that into consideration if you need to ever use that little trick.

After mixing it all up, instead of 3 tablespoons sized scoops as it says in the recipe, I used a single heaping tablespoon. This yielded the perfect sized cookie, in my opinion! I also ended up with 28 cookies instead of the 21 big ones I ended up with during my first attempt.

These cookies are perfectly soft and melty right out of the oven and just the right amount of crunchy if you manage to let them sit a little longer. I'm pretty sure these are my new go-to cookie recipe for the time being!

Pin this for later!
