2 Legit To Quit 90's Birthday Party

I love me a good themed party. And when I say theme, I mean one that is carefully picked and fully beaten to death. I'm talking matching napkins, cups, utensils, & decor. Carefully thought out food and drink selection. And even when the hosts have outfits that fully embody the chosen theme. Yeah, that's me. So of course this rings true when it comes to my kids' birthday parties. Seeing as the parties for really young kids are actually just for the adults, I thought I could get away with a really fun theme when my son turned two. And that is where the 2 Legit To Quit party was born.
Basically a 90's themed neon party, we had everything from stunna shades to Yoohoo. The main color was black with accents of bright pink, green, and turquoise. Everything was labeled with a perfectly matching printed vinyl I found at Hobby Lobby and had cute 90's related puns.

If Yoohoo wasn't your style, we also offered a 90's staple - Tang! And for sippin' on your (gin &) juice, some fun colored crazy straws.

What's a party without chips and dip? And who really are you if you can think about dipping anything without thinking of Da Dip and singing, to yourself, (or not - I won't judge) "when I dip, you dip, we dip". I knew for sure that had to be included as one of the party puns.

The last of the puns were found at the gift table. We were in the process of saving up for a vacation, so we had requested vacation fund contributions instead of gifts. But you don't have to be "down with OPP" to understand that of course grandparents are going to buy a 2yo a gift!
Also on the gift table were our stunna shade party favors. Are you for or against handing out party favors? I've always been all for it, within reason - but I know that can be a sore subject for some!

Last but definitely not least - the cake! You can't have a party without cake, and I never skimp when it comes to dessert. I continued to stay on theme with a splatter style cake. Black cakes are not easy, but dang are they worth it! A true black frosting like the one used on this cake requires a LOT of black food coloring as well as a dark black "onyx" cocoa powder that I've only ever found on Amazon. And it gives you more of an Oreo cookie chocolate flavor, rather than the traditional chocolate buttercream taste.
The cake itself was a chocolate & vanilla marble. But of course I colored the vanilla parts in the same turquoise, green, and pink to continue with my color scheme.
The splatters were done with colored, melted white chocolate. If you think this was a very messy cake to make, you'd be correct!
Would you try this theme for your family? It'd be great for another 2yo, or for anyone looking to celebrate the strange times that were the 90's!
